A little tidbit of humor: When you first come to the Guardian of the Flame, she says, "Show your eyes and grieve with your heart. Come to the shadows and depart."
This is a very clear paraphrasing of a line in Shakespeare's "Macbeth." The witches say, to Macbeth who has just insisted they show him more than they suggest he sees...
"Show his eyes and grieve his heart. Come, like shadows, and depart."
